Current Projects
For the last three years North Dallas Rotary clubs have been running a Stroke Awareness Day in early April and we are planning another one for 2012. For the 2012 event, to raise money we are planning a famly fun day that will include face-painting, bouncy castles and fun-fair rides. All money will go to a local Stroke Awareness charity.
We are currently also collecting money to help re-build a local church roof that was destroyed by a collapsed tree. We are taking collections at other local charity events to help raise money, and are also taking buckets to collect out on to the streets of North Dallas. We are aiming to raise every single cent, and at our last count we had $324, and we need $990, so if you see us, please do help out.

Future Projects In December 2011 we will be teaming up with players from local Soccer club FC Darfur Dallas when we visit and aid the Sudanese capital Khartoum. We will be taking along players Steve Harley and Jack Silver to teach the young people a range of football skills. Steve and Jack will also form two small groups and engage the children in a small five-a-side soccer league. In January 2012, following our tremendous success with the children of Nairobi, Kenya, we are returning with a small group of rotarians in an effort to help build a new school for 40 children. After our last visit we were touched by how keen they all were to learn and thanks to some of our rotations lobbying local Kenyan council we have secured the provision to help out with the building of the school. We are also looking to work with local companies in the future such as Rudel Construction or Roofing Dallas to help reach out to people whos houses have been destroyed either by nautral disaster or other unavoidable reasons. |
